ACTING UNDER the DOT and COAI directive, the Indian government has banned over 25 million Chinese handsets having fake IMEI codes. This stands in contrast to the fact that Indian telecom retailers and manufacturers can continue imports of branded and genuine IMEI china mobiles as certified by Directorate General of Customs and Foreign Trade.
The MSAI had initiated the appointment of genuine IMEI implantation centres at 1600 locations nationwide and the deadline for implementation of genuine IMEI was December 1. Telecom providers have approached the government for an extension for IMEI implementation, which has been declined as of now.
Citing the current IMEI issues, Geek IT stores, a Taiwan based genuine IMEI mobile manufacturer, which was the first in India to launch the IMEI Registration portal, has started accepting applications for Genuine IMEI China Mobiles Retailer program.

BMW India has announced to showcase its three models at Delhi Auto Expo 2010, beginning from January 5, 2010 at Pragati Maidan.The 2010 International Auto Expo, which runs from January 5 to 11 in New Delhi, is celebrating its 10th edition with the largest participation ever from Germany. More than 75 companies will be showcasing their cars and products at the event.
The company has announced to display its new new BMW X6 M, BMW Gran Turismo and BMW 760Li at 10th Auto Expo 2010.
