WhatSellsBest.com, a website tracking rare auction items on eBay, is reporting bids have reached $36,000, on day five of a ten day auction, for a rare Gandhi Postage Stamp, selling on eBay.
The 10 Rupee Service overprinted stamp, depicting Mahatma Gandhi, is one of India’s rarest stamps. It was planned for release in January 1948, but Gandhi was assassinated before the stamps were issued. Only 100 were made, with less than 8 known to reside in private hands.
